Tenable SC, well worth the cost
Tenable.sc [(formerly SecurityCenter)] is being used for our vulnerability management program across the whole organization. It identifies weaknesses in our infrastructure that need addressed.

- It has greatly increased our ability to remediate vulnerabilities with the various data points it provides.
- We can now get the right vulnerabilities in front of the right teams due to it's access control, which greatly reduces how long a vulnerability is in our environment.

Tenable.sc [(formerly SecurityCenter)] has been around for a long time and in our opinion offered the easiest configuration for compliance scanning and it's rating system was more impressive than Rapid 7's.

Tenable.sc in higher education
Tenable.SC is used by my division of the university to assist in maintaining PCI DSS, NIST SP 800:171, FERPA and HIPAA compliance. By collecting and correlating our log data and connecting the data found in scans and network traffic, we are able to have a better view of the security of our data and systems.

Tenable is very able.
Tenable products are being used all across the organization for vulnerability management. This is the heart of our vulnerability and exception management process and we rely on Tenable products for providing accurate data of the vulnerabilities currently present in our environment right from Windows/Linux servers to PCs to network devices to mobile devices.
- Great plugin feed and is refreshed every day giving you the power to be ahead of those one-day attacks
- Extremely simple to use UI with good filtering capabilities
- Reporting is one thing in which Tenable has surpassed other vendors
- Wide array of templates for reports and dashboards
- No room for customization via API
- Interaction with database is very limited
- Agent Scan importing into SecurityCenter is not even close to stable
- ROI from Tenable suite of products has been well worth its cost.
- Their pricing model has changed and they charge higher than their competitors but for the usage we have currently it serves us well.
- Customization might not be what was expected but I believe we are using the tool to the fullest.
- Rapid7 Nexpose and Qualys
Its competitors like Rapid7 and Qualys are really good substitutes and where they improve in other aspects such as scanning they lack in terms of reporting and filtering. It all boils down to your usage and if you need elaborate reporting capabilities and integrations and so on then Tenable is worth looking at else you can pick any of the three.
